Cannot log onto Xbox live, dya think it could be my Ethernet cable? Cannot think of anything else it could be.

There are ways to make the router compatible Very Happy, just need to forward a few ports... what models your router?

hmmmm, try resetting the router (plug cable out, plug back in), techoncally it makes no sense, but it always seems to work.
